Atlanta Ordinances Banning Data Centers in Beltline Overlay and Near Transit (+ 2025 Citywide Special-Use Permits)

On September 3, 2024 the Atlanta City Council banned new data centers within the Beltline Overlay District and within a half mile of high-capacity MARTA transit stops, to reserve that land for housing and mixed-use development. In June 2025 the council went further, requiring special-use permits for new data centers citywide and banning them in several additional neighborhoods.
