Perris is moving toward banning large data centers citywide. In June 2026 the City Council voted unanimously to have staff draft a ban, and all 27 public speakers supported it. On September 17, 2026 the Planning Commission recommended the ban, with possible exemptions for small server rooms such as those used for emergency services. The ban takes effect only after a final City Council vote. If adopted, Perris would follow Monterey Park, Coachella and Calexico as a California city that bans data centers.
