UPDATE (2026-08-13): On June 9, 2026 the Commission voted 5-2 to extend the moratorium to September 30, 2026; on June 23 it deferred the companion Chapter 27 zoning text amendment to August 11; on June 26 voted 7-0 to reject an industry-backed data-center regulations package; and on July 7, 2026 voted 7-0 to extend the moratorium again to March 30, 2027 — the third extension — while permanent regulations remain under development. The draft Chapter 27 amendment would restrict data centers to industrial areas and add a 500-ft buffer from county parks and trails in M and M-2 districts.
