The Board of Commissioners imposed a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, and approval of all applications and permits for data center construction or operation anywhere in unincorporated Miami County, effective immediately on adoption. It stays in effect until the county's Zoning Ordinance is amended to add rules specifically covering data centers — the Zoning Ordinance currently has none.

Follows a Plan Commission public hearing and certified recommendation under I.C. 36-7-4-604/605. Defines 'data center' broadly (storage/management/processing/transmission of digital data, incl. AI training or processing, cloud computing, server farms). Bars acceptance, processing, and approval of ALL applications/permits (incl. improvement location permits) for any data-center-related structure in ALL zoning districts of unincorporated Miami County.
