President Trump signed an executive order on September 29, 2026 telling federal agencies to use the terms 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports and policy documents. It does not require changes to existing regulations, contracts, grants or historical documents. For now 'Super Intelligence' means the same technologies already covered by the federal statutory definition of artificial intelligence. Within 60 days, the President's science and technology adviser must propose legislation for a federal definition of 'Super Intelligence'. The order creates no new office, rules for companies, or obligations on the private sector.
